Mother of the Bride Advice

Weddings are undoubtedly one, if not the most important day of the bride and grooms life. But a wedding is not only about the bride, groom or even the catering. It is a very important day for the mother of the bride too! This article aims to give mother of the bride advice that could end up being crucial once the big day arrives.
The first and foremost advice would be the outfit. Now, it is important to look as good as possible, but not to take the limelight away from the bride. Choosing the perfect outfit is not an easy thing to do, as there are many different aspects which make an outfit great, and, of course, it all comes down to personal preference. Colour for example, as the mother of the bride you should chose the correct colour that not only looks good, and fits the wedding specifications (if there is a wedding specification) but you should chose the colour that complements your style. Do not choose a colour that you are uncomfortable with wearing as your happiness is very important. The shape of the dress you desire is also very important, because if it doesn’t fit correctly, what is the point in wearing it? Chose the shape that complements your figure, making sure it looks and feels good.
Getting to know your in-laws is a piece of mother of the bride advice that could be the difference between awkward, one line conversations when sitting at the table with families and friends, or fully flowing conversations that go on through the night, making everyone feel comfortable in your presence, especially the bride and groom. A good way to do this is by meeting the in-laws prior to the wedding; this is traditionally arranged by the groom’s parents, which doesn’t have to feel like a forced order. It can be at a casual restaurant where getting to know each other is done in a comfortable environment. If this is not arranged, the best thing to do is to take the initiative, reach out to the in-laws and show them that you really would like to meet them. This can come across as a good feature to have, showing you are strong and assertive, stopping any anxiety in the process.
Possibly the most important mother of the bride advice would be to come completely prepared. Make sure that you have stated any concerns you have with the wedding (but do not get too controlling!); this can be anything, such as family traditions that occur on the wedding day, things like the mother-son dance or any other tradition that might be in your family. Also, don’t forget anything on the day, tissues are essential! Even the strongest woman cry when they see their daughter walking down the aisle, being given to the love of their life. But you do not want to have your make-up smudged for the wedding photos, which is not a good look. Finally, Last but not least, have fun! This is your daughter’s special day, so make sure you enjoy it too!
